"Sudmalinas" The dance of the live belt.

The belt in Latvian culture is used to mark significant occasions.  Saturday evening, August 7, 1999 after the conclusion of the 4th International Folk Dancing Festival, the dancers wove a multicolored "belt" dancing around the audience at the Castle park's outdoor arena.  The members of "Sudmalinas" became the symbol that protects, unites and strengthens the friendship between four Nations - Finland, Israel, USA and Latvia.
